Do Skin Types Play A Major Role With Waxing?
Saturday, October 10th, 2009Waxing is a method where we apply wax over the skin and a small cloth strip is pressed on the top and quickly ripped off to remove the unwanted hair in the skin. Waxing is the most popular method as it is inexpensive and convenient to do ourselves at home and the result is quick and lasts long.
There are different types of waxes and one of the major differences is hot wax and cold wax. Hot waxes have high melting point and are they are spread thinly over the skin and when they become hard; the striping is done for complete hair removal. Cold waxes are just pre-coated strips which can be directly used. We just need to press the strip and pull back. This type of waxing is commonly called, or known as, Persian waxing.
The skin type plays a major role and waxing must be done based on the skin type. Some skins are sensitive to hot waxing and may cause redness and irritations and some people suffer from discoloration due to continuous use of waxing. The wax must be chosen based on the skin sensitivity and pain toleration. Also, the hair strength, texture and rate of hair re-growth must be considered for choosing the right waxing method. Waxing is usually painful irrespective of what wax we choose. The best method to reduce the pain is to press hard on the skin with a soft sponge or with your fingers. When the pain has slightly reduced, rub the skin with a ice cube so that it would reduce any irritation or redness.
